Soundtrack

Luis Aguirre
On this project the purpose was to adapt some type of music to the story, I tried of adapt it to the beat instead of the lyrics this was pretty confusing because first I had to figure out what type of music could demonstrate emotion more than the others.I than thought classical music. I didn’t want to make all the story just go to the beat I added songs to text that the lyrics matched what was going on. I wanted some music that was a part of me as well so I added some techno. Here is the list of music I chose:
· Hello there “able to love” benni bannassi, throught the full chapter I chose this song because it is a song that I use to wake myself up. It matched because your starting a book.
· Room 105 “reluctant warrior” immediate music. From “but not saving people-to fool myself” I chose this song because it had the beat of the text. A little intense but not too much.
· I take on the ape “panic attacks”. From “Didn’t you put the add- you’re a liar” pg 6. I chose this because I wanted a part of my music going with the text.
· We lurch to the starting line “turn me up” Benny bannassi. from “I don’t know, I told him/ to the end of pg 8. I chose this ong because the beat had a coincidence with the text.
· The daydream. “The black legend” immediate music. “ I’m here for the ad/how log will it take to get ready “pg 11. I chose this because the song was intense but calm enough to tell a story.
· The daydream. “Space” micha moore.” why don’t u think people in general don’t know how to save the world/ end of chapter” pg 12. I chose this because of the beat.
· Meet mother culture. “waving flag” k’naan. “ because you’ve been listening to the same mother culture/ to end of chapter” pg 13- pg 14. It talks about culture and the song is from Africa and when I think of Africa I think culture.
· The people of the curse. “no se si es amor” Reik. “So the flaw is intelligence itself/aren’t you going to tell me who these people are.” Pg 17. I thought about this one I wanted a Spanish song. I heard my sister playing it. It was soft and calm so I chose it.
· Your culture. “say it right” Nelly Furtado. “You seem unimpressed/and I cant change them so their helpless.” Pg 18-pg 19. I chose it because Ishmael was saying everything right like the song.
· Your culture. “Harappa” E.S. Posthumus The fault is human nature itself, end of chapter pg” 20, pg 21. Harrapa is a soft melody but that has a little pitch that makes it unique that’s why I chose it.
· The history of man in 17 seconds. “Capoeria” Sergio Mendes. “Humans appeared about 3 million years ago/but where’s the lie is” pg 22. I wanted to add some unique music that sounded culture.
· The history of man in 17 seconds. “Genesis” “But where is the lie/I’m trying to reveal to you” pg 23. This song is very intense and it goes with the words Ishmael is saying.
· Tunes and dancers. “Just dance” lady gaga “A few steps of dance/but oddly enough it did work” pg 24-pg 25. It felt odd putting lady gaga in this but it matched words with text.
· Tunes and dancers. “Pompeii” E.S. Posthumus “ The takers expanded around the holdouts/the people are meant to live the way we takers live” Pg 25, pg 26. This was my favorite story throughout the book and this is my favorite relation between book and music. The story was about was so I needed something hardcore, but I didn’t want rock. This song was perfect.
· A visit to Calliope. “Rising empire” Immediate music. “ here is a picture of a Porcuzard/if it has the opposite effect” pg 32- pg 33. It was animals fighting so I put tough music.
· Calliope part 2. “Fahrenheit.” “ when two awks come face to face/every morsel food” pg 36 - pg 37. It is very intense.
· Calliope part 2. “Serenata.”Immediate music. “we now leave calliope and return five million years later/Ell’s or anyone else” pg 37-38. It was soft and a smooth melody.
· The cresent part 2.”lucius dei” immediate music “the chapter.” I went with the beat.
· School daze 1 and 2. “the wall” pink Floyd. “Both chapters.” Charlotte’s knows how to pick songs according to the text.
· Unschooling the world. “Imperativa” Immediate music. “ Yeah but not all kids grow in reading house holds/this is genetic” pg 71. It sounds like if some is reveling something.
· Wealth leaver style. “Como los animals” Roberto Carlos. “The chapter.” I chosed this because my mom was hearing it and its about being civilized like animals that our old ways were better.
· Less is not always more. “kingmaker” Immediate music. “I’ve been surprised by how/how do we go about having them” pg 83-84. It’s classic.
· My god it isn’t me. “tik tok” Keisha. “the first day you visited me/end of chapter” pg 88 pg 89. It was pretty strange because the only part of the song that fit the story was the beginning of the song.
· A look into the future. “believe” Immediate music. “the same is true here/she gives them bad names” pg 98. The song is soft so they can’t get distracted but it still flows.
· Getting me ready. “ on my way” brother bear. “the chapter.” I thought of this song out of nowhere, and it really did fit.
· En route. “A whole new world” Aladin. “the chapter.” It’s a whole new world.
· Lukombo owana. “Europa” Globus” “ I understand, he said/so let him understand it.” Pg 112-113. I picked it because the song sounded like a discussion.
· Feats of timing and farewell Ishmael. “three little birds” Bob Marley. “The chapters.” In this chapter a lot of sad stuff happens and this song says to not worry about a thing.
· Life goes on. “Don’t worry be happy” bob Marley. “ the chapter” the words match with the text. To be happy.
· Alan’s Ishmael. “Positive vibration” Bob Marley “ The chapter” you need to be positive in does types of times.
· The waiting ends. “ Pursuit of happiness” kid Cuidi. “The chapter.” In the end she was in the pursuit of happiness but she learned a lot.
· This is my list of music that goes with the story. I hope you like it.

evelyn glennie shows how to listen

In class mele showed us a relevant video to the project we our working in class these past few days. It was about a woman who's only goal is to teach the world to listen. This is what i thought.

  • what struck you?

What struck me was how shw could listen meanwhile being death. It really did struck me. for me i would think that is impposible. For a while when they told me bethevon was death. i thought to myself how could he of made does masterpieces. She said she didn't hear it from her ears she heard it from her hands, her arms. whe she was talking about feeling being one with the stick, she made it clearer.

  • What did you notice?

I liked how she started telling the story of her music classes and how one day the teacher told her to take her drum but to experiment it with no drum sticks. when she played it i noticed how cool it sounded. i noticed that you don't really need the sticks to play when she talked about when people were clapping and not experimenting with the floor or there knees. it made met= think she's right.

  • What did you enjoy about her performance, be specific?

I loved how she made the marimba sound like a organ i never knew that could happen. i thought to myself if it was possible to make the guitar sound like a violin. she has alot of creativity and passion for music and she shows it when she plays.

farmers market

On may 13, 2010 i viseted a farmers market. there were a lot more interesting stuff then they were in the farmers market close to my house. I first interview a man that was selling fish. This is what he said:

what is your name and what do you sell?

My name is anthony and I sell fish, and ceviche.

Do you go fishing?

no.

where do you get this fish then?

I buy it from a company called world's famous fishmarket.

I continued to walk throughout the farmers market and i saw people selling fruits and eggs. this is what they said:

What is your name and what do you sell?

I sell organic fruits and eggs.

Where do you get the fruits and eggs?

I get them from a farm in fresno, where we grow them.

Why do u preffer selling here?

So I can communicate with the customer one on one.

I would never of thought a farmers market could have so many varieties of stuff. They had from east african food to food from india. what struck me about the framers market was the east african food. It struck my stomach of its unique taste yum, yum. I recommend it.
the most expensive thing i saw there was the indian food. It cost 3 dollars for a small triangle. dont recommend it.

The senior garden

On friday we took a trip to the senior garden.
I asked some questions to the tour guide.

  1. Why did you make this garden? We saw what industries were doing to the world and wanted to make a change.
  2. Who will take care of it after you leave? every student will have a chance to treat it for senior year.
  3. who had this idea? Our teacher and the guy in the hat.
  4. what do you do with the food you harvest? people can come ask if they can like take cilantro for soup or anything.
  • Did the garden inspire you? No, not really maybe for a wex, but it did made me want to try and eat more fruits and veggies; but then again I love meat too much. in the other hand i thought that it was a nice idea.
  • Do you think the seniors care for the garden? Most of them did they looked like if they wanted to make a change. they looked impacted with what was going on behind the illusion.
  • how well was the garden maintained? It looked very well maintained. Everyone looked like if they put hard work on it. I liked the idea of a hose will holes so it didnt was that much water
  • what struck you? What struck me was how well the garden was doing it wasent what i exepected. i thought it was going to be bunch of dirt with seeds under. Their were even plants as tall as me.

Food Inc.
What impacted me the most of this film was how companies made an illusion of their products. How they hide so many things from us and we don’t even have a clue. It struck me how people go so far and do anything because of their greed, their selfishness, for money. How they just can’t get enough.
I agree that something must be done; having seen this film shows how animals are treated and what the effects are caused by it. Companies must change their way of feeding animals people have died because of it. If we take put ourselves in the animals it might change our mind, animals must be able to eat what their suppose to eat. It will not only help them but also help us.
We can apply this to almost any comparison situation, try feeling what others feel. Treat other like you want to be treated, give more get more.
I discuses the movie with my mom and she gave me her point of view. She believes that it’s too late to completely go back to the older days where everyone harvest their food our busy society makes it all most impossible. Most people today don’t even have time to cook for themselves, they prefer stopping by a fast food. Another important point she brought up is that our over growing population has steamed the growth and production of the food industry.

Quote-Children will learn anything they want to learn. they'll fail at learning how to figure percentages in the classroom but will effortlessly learn how to figure abtting averages(which are of course just percentages). they'll fail at learning science in the classroom but, working at their personal computers, will effortlessly defeat the most sophisticated computer security systems.
This paragraph grabed my attention because i can relate it to my cousin, having problems in school and not being able to memorize the courses has no problem, what so ever learning anything that has to do with games in the his computer. not being able to learn the angles or logical question. he has no problem learning history, or information to help his x box 360.
Seeing my cousin having a low capacity for school work makes me think that maybe they should just teach what we are going to use to live in our society. im not saying that my cousin should only learn games, he also like learning the human body or anything to do with being a doctor he dosent of anything else. This might mean that maybe we should only focus on the stuff we will use instead of testing us in all subjects, for example i want to be a engeneer when am i going to use the history oh how cortez one the aztecs. Partial of the grades we have are useless.

tragic flaw

A bad day
Luis Aguirre
1/30/10
“Bye dad,” said Dulce to his dad Manuel.
“Que les vaya bien,” Manuel said to his daughter and her best friend Estrella. Estrella’s dad gesticulated a wave happily to them they turned around and started walking towards the school. The school bell rang.
“Hurry class is about to start,” Ernesto said. Ernesto was the dad of Estrella. They entered the school not expecting that this day would not be even close to mundane.
“There isn’t that much gas left,” Ernesto alerted Manuel. “I think there’s a gas station a few blocks back,” Ernesto added. They turned around. Ernesto’s ears were in pain of the squeaking sound of the transmission moving it was like a teacher writing on a chalk board. “When was the last time you took this car to an auto shop?” Ernesto asked.
“I can’t afford a tune up now ever since the loss of jobs it has been really hard finding a job with good pay,” Manuel said. Many worries had been pressing on Manuel ever since he lost his job. He had been working as a construction worker, but all that was left now was becoming a farm worker. He knew that wouldn’t be good life for his daughter. She would have to leave school. If only there was a panacea for this.
He woke up out of the day dream when Ernesto said, “I’ll pay for the gas this time.” His friend had always supported him. He was in a much better position then Manuel he had a good stable job. At least he went to college. Ever since they had robbed Manuel and his wife things hadn’t been good for him. In 15 minutes they robbed everything he had accomplished in 15 years. Ernesto took out his wallet, it was full of money. Manuel took out his wallet only 17 dollars. Ernesto went to get a soda. Manuel said, “I’ll pay that, it’s the least I can do for paying the gas.”
“Ok,” said Ernesto. Two people came in. Manuel examined their faces. On the left it was a man with a cigar on his mouth. He had a scar through his neck. On the right it was a tall man with a ring on all the fingers of his right hand and a tattoo of green death on the back of his neck he stared directly into Manuel’s eyes. Fear swept through his whole body. There was something about that man that made him paralyzed. He had seen him somewhere, but where? Suddenly, they took out a gun.
“Give me all your money!” one of the robbers shouted
A few blocks away, Mrs. Garcia was giving a lesson about math. “Good morning class. Today we will learn the multiples of 2.” The kids were in a torpor. They thought math was boring. Who knows what 2 x 2 is?” A short amount of hands went up. “C’mon class we have been…” boom boom. High cracking sounds interrupted the teacher. The school bell rang. “Lock down,” the teacher shouted in a frightening tone. The kids could see through the window it was cops vs. narcos. The narcos were dominating as they had better guns. One by one the cops were losing. The kids saw that a narco was pointing to their window. “Get down!” The teacher shouted. The narco shot the gun it hit the teacher’s arm. The gun shots stopped.
“Did the cops lose?” Dulce said “Are you going to die?” The teacher couldn’t speak. The teacher was on the floor shouting in agony inside of her unable to stand up. “Get the first aid its next to the door,” the teacher said
She walked toward the door, a hard knock on the door roared.
“Open this door now!” a person shouted
“Hurry up,” the tattooed guy said to the cashier with his gun pointing at him.
The man with the scar said, “you too,” Manuel and Ernesto handed their wallets to them. Inside there were their ids, their pictures of their daughters, and their money. Ernesto had few secrets, but one of his most deep secret was his past job to pay his college. He was a security guard for one of the greatest narcos. When handing his wallet to the guy with the scar he gave it to the tattooed guy. When he turned around and to give it him. He hit him on the neck. He fell unconscious. The tattooed guy turned around. With his gun up, the trigger was being pulled back by his index finger the cashier tried getting him by the neck. Boom boom.
“Open this door!” someone shouted. Boom the handle went flying off whomever who was outside had shot it. The door opened slowly. Each second felt much longer than usual. It was like if time wanted to stop. The teacher’s eyes closed, this is the end she thought. Estrella saw the door opening slowly. Tears came out of her eyes. I’m going to die she thought. Dulce fell into a spell of fear. The room went silent all you could hear was the door moving. Blood starting coming out of the door it crawled under the floor like a tiger searching his prey. A person jumped out, and closed the door. It was a cop. All their worries fell so rapidly like a water fall. “Help me!” he exclaimed in pain. He fell dead silent to the floor. weeuuu weeu weeu!
“More police cops are coming, run!” shouted one of the narcos outside. Minutes passed when the ambulance took the teacher to the hospital. The principal came into the class.
She said, “Do these worksheets, meanwhile I’m not here, if you have any questions ask the teacher in the next class.”
The gun shot two bullets. The cashier fell dead in front on the tattooed guys shoes. He dropped their wallets. The wallets opened, each with a picture of their daughters together on the first day of school with the school in the background. A malicious smile formed in his face.
“It would sad if something happen to your daughters.” The tattooed guy said
“You wouldn’t dare” Manuel said with a frightening voice. The tattooed guy smiled.
“You took something important from me now I’ll take something from you.” The tatoed guy added. Manuel would have a lacuna in his heart if they ever took his daughter away. Manuel remembered his face. He had seen him in the hospital. They were going to give her wife a check of how their baby was doing. A person came in running into the hospital he saw the big line of people. None of them were as bad condition as her sister. She was carrying her in her arms. A poisonous snake that had bitten her. She needed an antidote she saw the first person, which was Manuel. “Can you please let me go in front,” the tattooed guy entreated. Manuel just ignored him. He tried cajoling with him."My sister is dying, please" he said.
“No, get in the back of the line and wait like all of us.” Manuel said. It was too late for her sister. The tattooed guy ran to his car. He turned on his car, and accelerated. I’ll get my revenge. He parked on the school parking lot then went to the office and asked for the girl in the picture he had to write his name on a piece of paper. Estrella and Dulce were working on the worksheets when a guy came in to pick them up.
They rushed to the school. “Has anyone came to pick our daughters up,” Ernesto said. The clerk replied with a nod, and pointed at a car leaving. They began to run. The car stopped on the red stop sign Manuel and Ernesto entered their car.
“Follow him and don’t let him notice us.” Ernesto told Manuel. They followed him to a big house in the woods. They hid in a bush to see what was going on. They saw a row of kids and three men. The fattest one looked like the boss. The others were the tattooed guy and the guy that they had knocked out in the gas station. He had woken up and escaped. The fat guy was shouting nonsense about making them get money for him on the streets, by begging for money. They entered the house again the kids were separated from the three men. “I'll call the police,” Ernesto said with a worried voice.
“I’ll go to try and save them,” Manuel crouched through the dirt. He got to the kids window. Ernesto looked that there was amen missing at the other room.
“Don’t move, “Ernesto turned around. “Remember me?” the man with the scar said. An anaconda crawled through the branches getting closer to the man with the scar. Ernesto saw it. “Any last words,” the guy said.
“Yup, look up.” The snake wrapped itself around him and began to squeeze him to death. He looked back toward the house a man was walking to the kid’s room. The men open the door and saw the kids escaping. They hit Manuel. Ernesto was on his way to the room, the police were only seconds away from the place. Ernesto had gotten the gun that the scar faced guy had dropped. Ernesto got in the room and shot the boss. Quickly Rafael got Manuel and pointed his gun. Police where surrounding the house with snipers.
Rafael said, “Let me go or I kill h…” a bullet crushed his ribs, and left an empty hole in his heart then escaped his body by breaking his spine. Manuel stood in amazement it took time for him to realize he hadn’t died. Rafael fell next to his only friend, his gun with hi last heart beats he rose up the gun and shot Manuel. Manuel’s eyes went wide open. Rafael dropped the gun. Death isn’t that bad he thought. Manuel was in the floor with blood pouring of his chest him.
Manuel whispered to Ernesto, “give her a life I could never of accomplished.” Slowly the shine in his eyes faded with a smile.
