Soundtrack

Luis Aguirre
On this project the purpose was to adapt some type of music to the story, I tried of adapt it to the beat instead of the lyrics this was pretty confusing because first I had to figure out what type of music could demonstrate emotion more than the others.I than thought classical music. I didn’t want to make all the story just go to the beat I added songs to text that the lyrics matched what was going on. I wanted some music that was a part of me as well so I added some techno. Here is the list of music I chose:
· Hello there “able to love” benni bannassi, throught the full chapter I chose this song because it is a song that I use to wake myself up. It matched because your starting a book.
· Room 105 “reluctant warrior” immediate music. From “but not saving people-to fool myself” I chose this song because it had the beat of the text. A little intense but not too much.
· I take on the ape “panic attacks”. From “Didn’t you put the add- you’re a liar” pg 6. I chose this because I wanted a part of my music going with the text.
· We lurch to the starting line “turn me up” Benny bannassi. from “I don’t know, I told him/ to the end of pg 8. I chose this ong because the beat had a coincidence with the text.
· The daydream. “The black legend” immediate music. “ I’m here for the ad/how log will it take to get ready “pg 11. I chose this because the song was intense but calm enough to tell a story.
· The daydream. “Space” micha moore.” why don’t u think people in general don’t know how to save the world/ end of chapter” pg 12. I chose this because of the beat.
· Meet mother culture. “waving flag” k’naan. “ because you’ve been listening to the same mother culture/ to end of chapter” pg 13- pg 14. It talks about culture and the song is from Africa and when I think of Africa I think culture.
· The people of the curse. “no se si es amor” Reik. “So the flaw is intelligence itself/aren’t you going to tell me who these people are.” Pg 17. I thought about this one I wanted a Spanish song. I heard my sister playing it. It was soft and calm so I chose it.
· Your culture. “say it right” Nelly Furtado. “You seem unimpressed/and I cant change them so their helpless.” Pg 18-pg 19. I chose it because Ishmael was saying everything right like the song.
· Your culture. “Harappa” E.S. Posthumus The fault is human nature itself, end of chapter pg” 20, pg 21. Harrapa is a soft melody but that has a little pitch that makes it unique that’s why I chose it.
· The history of man in 17 seconds. “Capoeria” Sergio Mendes. “Humans appeared about 3 million years ago/but where’s the lie is” pg 22. I wanted to add some unique music that sounded culture.
· The history of man in 17 seconds. “Genesis” “But where is the lie/I’m trying to reveal to you” pg 23. This song is very intense and it goes with the words Ishmael is saying.
· Tunes and dancers. “Just dance” lady gaga “A few steps of dance/but oddly enough it did work” pg 24-pg 25. It felt odd putting lady gaga in this but it matched words with text.
· Tunes and dancers. “Pompeii” E.S. Posthumus “ The takers expanded around the holdouts/the people are meant to live the way we takers live” Pg 25, pg 26. This was my favorite story throughout the book and this is my favorite relation between book and music. The story was about was so I needed something hardcore, but I didn’t want rock. This song was perfect.
· A visit to Calliope. “Rising empire” Immediate music. “ here is a picture of a Porcuzard/if it has the opposite effect” pg 32- pg 33. It was animals fighting so I put tough music.
· Calliope part 2. “Fahrenheit.” “ when two awks come face to face/every morsel food” pg 36 - pg 37. It is very intense.
· Calliope part 2. “Serenata.”Immediate music. “we now leave calliope and return five million years later/Ell’s or anyone else” pg 37-38. It was soft and a smooth melody.
· The cresent part 2.”lucius dei” immediate music “the chapter.” I went with the beat.
· School daze 1 and 2. “the wall” pink Floyd. “Both chapters.” Charlotte’s knows how to pick songs according to the text.
· Unschooling the world. “Imperativa” Immediate music. “ Yeah but not all kids grow in reading house holds/this is genetic” pg 71. It sounds like if some is reveling something.
· Wealth leaver style. “Como los animals” Roberto Carlos. “The chapter.” I chosed this because my mom was hearing it and its about being civilized like animals that our old ways were better.
· Less is not always more. “kingmaker” Immediate music. “I’ve been surprised by how/how do we go about having them” pg 83-84. It’s classic.
· My god it isn’t me. “tik tok” Keisha. “the first day you visited me/end of chapter” pg 88 pg 89. It was pretty strange because the only part of the song that fit the story was the beginning of the song.
· A look into the future. “believe” Immediate music. “the same is true here/she gives them bad names” pg 98. The song is soft so they can’t get distracted but it still flows.
· Getting me ready. “ on my way” brother bear. “the chapter.” I thought of this song out of nowhere, and it really did fit.
· En route. “A whole new world” Aladin. “the chapter.” It’s a whole new world.
· Lukombo owana. “Europa” Globus” “ I understand, he said/so let him understand it.” Pg 112-113. I picked it because the song sounded like a discussion.
· Feats of timing and farewell Ishmael. “three little birds” Bob Marley. “The chapters.” In this chapter a lot of sad stuff happens and this song says to not worry about a thing.
· Life goes on. “Don’t worry be happy” bob Marley. “ the chapter” the words match with the text. To be happy.
· Alan’s Ishmael. “Positive vibration” Bob Marley “ The chapter” you need to be positive in does types of times.
· The waiting ends. “ Pursuit of happiness” kid Cuidi. “The chapter.” In the end she was in the pursuit of happiness but she learned a lot.
· This is my list of music that goes with the story. I hope you like it.

evelyn glennie shows how to listen

In class mele showed us a relevant video to the project we our working in class these past few days. It was about a woman who's only goal is to teach the world to listen. This is what i thought.

  • what struck you?

What struck me was how shw could listen meanwhile being death. It really did struck me. for me i would think that is impposible. For a while when they told me bethevon was death. i thought to myself how could he of made does masterpieces. She said she didn't hear it from her ears she heard it from her hands, her arms. whe she was talking about feeling being one with the stick, she made it clearer.

  • What did you notice?

I liked how she started telling the story of her music classes and how one day the teacher told her to take her drum but to experiment it with no drum sticks. when she played it i noticed how cool it sounded. i noticed that you don't really need the sticks to play when she talked about when people were clapping and not experimenting with the floor or there knees. it made met= think she's right.

  • What did you enjoy about her performance, be specific?

I loved how she made the marimba sound like a organ i never knew that could happen. i thought to myself if it was possible to make the guitar sound like a violin. she has alot of creativity and passion for music and she shows it when she plays.

farmers market

On may 13, 2010 i viseted a farmers market. there were a lot more interesting stuff then they were in the farmers market close to my house. I first interview a man that was selling fish. This is what he said:

what is your name and what do you sell?

My name is anthony and I sell fish, and ceviche.

Do you go fishing?

no.

where do you get this fish then?

I buy it from a company called world's famous fishmarket.

I continued to walk throughout the farmers market and i saw people selling fruits and eggs. this is what they said:

What is your name and what do you sell?

I sell organic fruits and eggs.

Where do you get the fruits and eggs?

I get them from a farm in fresno, where we grow them.

Why do u preffer selling here?

So I can communicate with the customer one on one.

I would never of thought a farmers market could have so many varieties of stuff. They had from east african food to food from india. what struck me about the framers market was the east african food. It struck my stomach of its unique taste yum, yum. I recommend it.
the most expensive thing i saw there was the indian food. It cost 3 dollars for a small triangle. dont recommend it.

The senior garden

On friday we took a trip to the senior garden.
I asked some questions to the tour guide.

  1. Why did you make this garden? We saw what industries were doing to the world and wanted to make a change.
  2. Who will take care of it after you leave? every student will have a chance to treat it for senior year.
  3. who had this idea? Our teacher and the guy in the hat.
  4. what do you do with the food you harvest? people can come ask if they can like take cilantro for soup or anything.
  • Did the garden inspire you? No, not really maybe for a wex, but it did made me want to try and eat more fruits and veggies; but then again I love meat too much. in the other hand i thought that it was a nice idea.
  • Do you think the seniors care for the garden? Most of them did they looked like if they wanted to make a change. they looked impacted with what was going on behind the illusion.
  • how well was the garden maintained? It looked very well maintained. Everyone looked like if they put hard work on it. I liked the idea of a hose will holes so it didnt was that much water
  • what struck you? What struck me was how well the garden was doing it wasent what i exepected. i thought it was going to be bunch of dirt with seeds under. Their were even plants as tall as me.
